p.u.r.e. ruft auf zum gemeinsamen UNTERSTEHEN! im U-Bhf Birkenstraße. Wir begeben uns auf eine Reise durch die Station, bei der wir immer wieder stehen bleiben. Stille und Zweckfreiheit schaffen Raum für ein unersättliches, vorurteilsfreies Interesse am Detailreichtum des Ortes: seinen Klängen, Texturen, Rhythmen, Strömungen, Athmosphären und Performances. Wir vermessen das Feld zwischen Bewegung und Stillstand, Ritual und Routine, Tempo und Dauer, Norm und Abweichung, Freiheit und Unterordnung. Können wir dem Getriebe von funktionalen Zwängen des öffentlichen Verkehrs – aber auch seinen Absurditäten, Fehlplanungen, Pannen und Hindernissen – poetisch wie politisch opponieren, indem wir uns dem Transit(un)ort mit allen Sinnen hingeben und ihn zugleich unsinnig gebrauchen? Wir versuchen die Stadt zu unterwandern und ihr zu entkommen, während wir mittendrin sind.

p.u.r.e. calls for common UN/DARE/STANDING! in the subway station Birkenstraße. We embark on a journey through the topography of the station, during which we stop again and again. Silence and lack of purpose make space for an unprejudiced and insatiable interest in the wealth of details of this location: its diversity of sounds, textures, rhythms, flows, atmospheres and performances. We survey the field delineated by movement and standstill, ritual and routine, speed and duration, norm and deviation, freedom and submission. Can we poetically and politically oppose the functional constraints transmitted in public transport – as well as its absurdities, miscalculations, glitches and obstacles – by indulging all our senses in this transit-(non)-place while using it without rhyme or reason? We are trying to subvert and to escape the city while staying right in the middle.
